What we do
Specialist Academic Support has been in operation for over 10 years, providing high-quality, expert Non-Medical Help (NMH) support to help students with a wide range of needs achieve their academic goals.
Our staff are dynamic, engaging and inclusive and can help a wide range of individuals achieve their goals with academic skills and mental health support and mentoring- the team at Specialist Academic Support will help you get there.
What we offer
Specialist study skills support to students in Higher Education and Disabled Student Allowance funding across the UK:
Specialist one-to-one Study Skills and Strategy Support
This is SpLD / Dyslexia Support that is usually provided to people who have:
- Dyslexia
- Dyspraxia
- ADD/AD(H)D
Specialist Mentor Support
A mentor/coach is usually provided to people with:
- mental health conditions – depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder
- long term health conditions – epilepsy, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, M.E.
- ADD/AD(H)D
- Asperger’s syndrome
- a combination of difficulties

Quality Assurance Framework (QAF)
DSA-QAG (the Disabled Student Allowance Quality Assurance Group)
Specialist Academic Support is a DSA-QAG registered supplier involved in the delivery of support under the Disabled Student Allowance (DSA) in England and Wales. This means that we meet the criteria set out in the DSA QAG quality assurance framework in the UK.
All our mentors and tutors working with DSA students are fully compliant with DSA-QAG Quality Assurance Framework requirements and appropriately DBS checked and trained in safeguarding.
